State Urban Livelihood Mission (SULM), under Directorate of urban administration and development, Government of Madhya Pradesh has implemented the DAY-National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM) programme in the state in 70 mission cities. The program is designed to provide sustainable livelihood to urban poor through skill training and to reduce poverty and vulnerability of the urban poor households. The Employment through Skill Training and Placement (EST&P) component under the scheme is designed to provide skills to the unskilled urban poor as well as to upgrade their existing skills, enabling setting up of self-employment ventures and jobs placement in the private sector. The Agri-clinics and Agri-Business Centers (ACABC) initiative was launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. It’s a unique program to take better farming methods to every farmer across the country through a large pool of available agriculture professionals. In addition, the program creates gainful self-employment opportunities for the unemployed agricultural graduates and establishes linkages for income generation and entrepreneurship development. This initiative involves setting up Agri-Clinics to provide expert advice and services to farmers on various technologies, including cropping practices, plant protection, crop insurance, and post-harvest technology. Agri-Business centers, commercial units of agricultural ventures established by trained and certified agriculture professionals, are also set up under this scheme. Such ventures may include maintenance and custom hiring of farm equipment, sale of inputs, and other services in agriculture, including post-harvest management and marketing and selling of the produce. This program is being coordinated by National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), responsible for providing training to eligible candidates through Nodal Training Institutes (NTIs). CARD is one such NTI in Bhopal and is running the training program since 2016. CARD has completed over 20 residential courses and has trained over 550 candidates, helped establish over 350 Agri-ventures, facilitating 15 loans worth 2.5 crores to its students.
